Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories in New Mexico is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant at Presbyterian Hospital. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and involves phlebotomy, specimen processing, and clerical support.

On‑call coverage and weekend/holiday shifts may be required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with apprenticeship options available for those without prior experience.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated schooling or laboratory experience to be hired as a Level 1 or higher.
• Candidates with no training or experience may be considered for an apprenticeship.
• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant or comparable program
• Immunization requirements: Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination documented.
• Valid driver's license; eligible to work in a health care facility.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains supplies and inventory necessary to perform departmental functions.
• Observe students and/or new staff as needed.
• Exhibit basic problem solving skills to ensure exceptional patient care service levels.
• Responsible for hospital communication responsibilities and on‑call duties by location.
• Demonstrates effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Participate in and maintain coverage levels for on call as needed/required to meet service levels.
• General Phlebotomy and specimen processing tasks.
• Department specific clerical or support functions including case organization and report management.
