Job summary

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte seeks a Health Services Specialist I to provide direct services in our Woodland Health Center. The role includes patient check-in/check-out, collecting payments, scheduling, and ensuring accurate billing information.

Responsibilities cover lab tasks, specimen handling, and assisting with exams, while upholding PPMM customer service standards and workplace values. Evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information across diverse backgrounds.
• General knowledge of Windows-based computer applications; willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work in a busy environment with multiple tasks and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct service in health center areas including sexual and reproductive health as appropriate to scope of services and health centers.
• Gives patients information about Planned Parenthood services, contraception, options, and funding sources.
• Contributes to health center productivity goals and accurate documentation of financial, medical, and social history.
• Screens and documents patient information for billing and insurance purposes; enters data in EPM and schedules appointments.
• Handles check-in/check-out professionally, collects payments, and secures insurance information for billing.
• Performs moderate-lab tasks including pregnancy tests and STI/HIV testing; prepares samples and maintains logs.
• Prepares charts for next-day appointments and ensures charges are posted timely; adheres to financial policies.
• Restores cleanliness and safety of exam and lab areas; assists in exam rooms as needed.
