Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Supervise fellows, residents, and medical students during patient encounters.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars for educational sessions.
  • Complete inpatient and outpatient consultations by request.
  • Participate in university and hospital committees.

Job description

Description

Participate as a full-time faculty member in departmental and medical school activities as a clinician-educator. The incumbent has a major commitment to the provision, advancement, and promotion of excellence in clinical care and teaching/educational activities, and makes scholarly contributions to the division of endocrinology and department of medicine.

Duties
  1. Administrative (5% academic consideration time)
    1. Assume divisional and departmental administrative responsibility as directed by the Division Chief.
    2. Academic consideration time (.05 FTE).
  2. Teaching (25%)
    1. Clinical Teaching (7.5%) – supervise fellows, residents, and medical students during ambulatory and hospital patient encounters.
    2. Didactic Teaching (7.5%) – prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and conferences for fellows, residents, medical students, and other learners; provide periodic seminars/educational sessions for the division of endocrinology; prepare conferences for the Department of Medicine; provide lectures and conferences at regional hospitals in Central and Southern Illinois.
  3. Service (70% – includes 7.5% clinical teaching effort)
    1. Professional Services – complete inpatient and outpatient consultations requested by full-time SIU clinical faculty, house staff, and community physicians; provide outreach to Pinckneyville Community Hospital District via telehealth; develop and maintain professional practice in accordance with departmental policy; achieve target of 4,080 RVUs per year.
    2. University, Hospital and Regional Services – participate in university, SIU Healthcare, and hospital committees as requested.
