Job summary

Halifax Health is seeking a Clinical Educator to lead orientation, education and staff development for the nursing workforce across inpatient entities. You will design, implement, and evaluate competency programs, collaborate with SMEs, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

The role requires BSN, MSN preferred, and 5 years of nursing/educator experience. You will guide policy-based training and provide direct patient care as needed in emergencies.

Qualifications

• BSN required; MSN preferred.
• 5 years of nursing, clinical educator, or nursing instructor experience required.
• 2 years' experience in development and design of education/training curriculum and staff development for a healthcare workforce.
• Knowledge of principles, philosophies and theories of learning.
• Ability to design and develop a broad repertoire of instructional strategies.
• Knowledge of learning objectives, curriculum and program development principles; accreditation standards and procedures related to nursing competency.
• Strong evaluation skills to assess education content against regulatory and hospital requirements.
• Content synthesis & creation with SME collaboration.
• Experience with classroom presentation methods in adult education settings.
• Project management for large-scale education initiatives.
• Research skills to support evidence-based education.
• Commitment to Cornerstone service principles and change leadership.
• Ability to assess educational needs and develop staff education for new policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess, design, deliver and evaluate orientation, education, training, and staff development for the nursing workforce.
• Develop competency assessment programs and continuing education activities.
• Collaborate with SMEs to create evidence-based education materials.
• Plan and implement unit or system-wide orientation and staff education on policies and procedures.
• Provide direct patient care as needed to support clinical skill development.
• Document participation in education programs and maintain required certifications (BLS, ACLS).
• Coordinate education demonstrations of new equipment with vendors.
• Participate in health system committees and educational projects.
• Maintain knowledge base within specialty and act as a change champion.
