Job summary

Halifax Health is seeking a Day (United States of America) Clinical Educator to lead orientation, education, training and staff development for nursing across in-patient entities. The role includes assessing needs, designing competency programs and evaluating outcomes to ensure evidence-based nursing practice.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN and MSN, with at least 5 years in nursing or clinical education, plus experience in curriculum development and accreditation readiness.

Qualifications

• BSN required; MSN preferred.
• 5 years of nursing, clinical educator, or nursing instructor experience required.
• 2 years' experience in development and design of education/training curriculum and staff development for a healthcare workforce.
• Knowledge of principles, philosophies and theories of learning.
• Ability to design and develop a broad repertoire of instructional strategies.
• Knowledge of learning objectives, curriculum and program development principles; and accreditation standards and procedures related to nursing competency.
• Evaluation skills – ability to critically examine education content and relevance to nurse learners and regulatory training requirements.
• Content synthesis & creation – work with SMEs to create education/training activities and materials.
• Classroom presentation methods in adult learning; project management for large-scale educational initiatives.
• Research skills; adherence to Cornerstone principles; service excellence as a role model.

Responsibilities

• Assess educational needs for the health system or specific clinical units.
• Plan, implement and evaluate competency assessment programs, orientation, continuing education and staff development.
• Develop and implement general and unit-specific orientation plans with nursing leadership.
• Provide direct patient care as needed to assist in developing staff clinical skills.
• Collaborate with other clinical educators to design programs requiring innovative teaching techniques.
• Document staff participation in education programs and maintain CE records.
• Coordinate demonstrations with vendor representatives for new equipment or supplies.
• Participate in health system/unit committees and policy development.
