Job summary

Pioneering Medicines in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Clinical Development Lead at the Medical Director or Senior Medical Director level to drive the transition from research into early clinical development. This physician-scientist role shapes clinical strategies across discovery to human proof-of-concept and collaborates with PM teams.

You will lead early development plans, partner with senior clinical leaders, translational sciences, and external advisors to align hypotheses with the Target

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with strong scientific background.
• 3+ years post-graduate experience in industry or academia clinical research.
• Medical residency completed; subspecialty fellowship preferred.
• Experience in oncology, immunology or metabolic diseases preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead early clinical development plans through hPOC aligned with the Target Product Profile (TPP).
• Collaborate with senior clinical leaders, Project Leaders, Research, Strategy and KOLs to define and refine clinical hypotheses and development strategies.
• Integrate clinical plans with translational, nonclinical, and regulatory development strategies to enable progression from exploratory studies to FIH trials.
• Partner with Research teams to align outputs with clinical objectives.
• Work with the Strategy Group to ensure clinical plans support the TPP and program value.
• Incorporate regulatory input, operational feasibility, and real-world data to ensure robust development strategies.
• Collaborate with Project Management to develop integrated timelines, resource forecasts, and budget assumptions for NewCo planning.
• Support the preparation and delivery of key materials for governance forums and Joint Steering Committees with external partners.
• Identify and address development risks and bottlenecks proactively; drive resolution across functional interfaces.
• Promote a culture of scientific rigor, accountability, agility, and open collaboration within project teams.
• Enhance cross-functional integration by facilitating communication, alignment, and shared ownership of development goals.
