Job summary

Geisinger is seeking an outpatient Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support physicians and providers in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. The role includes direct patient care, clinical support, room setup, EMR documentation, and patient scheduling.

Responsibilities encompass EKGs, wound care, minor procedures, medication preparation, phlebotomy, and ensuring patient safety and privacy. CMA/RMA certification is required, with Mayo? associations acceptable: NHA/AMT/AAMA/NAHP/NCCT/AAH/AMCA.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
• Certified by NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and clinical support in outpatient setting.
• Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assists patient preparation for visits and ensures safety and privacy.
• Performs EKGs, wound care, minor procedures, and ancillary examinations.
• Prepares and administers medications as per policy; may not give intravenous meds.
• Performs phlebotomy; handles specimen collection and lab paperwork.
• Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support patient care and charting.
• Documents in EMR and scheduling system; facilitates timely appointments and referrals.
