Job summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is seeking a Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager to lead shift operations, guide nursing staff, and ensure high-quality patient care and satisfaction. This role partners with Nursing Operations leadership to manage patient assignments, staffing, and outcomes in a complex care setting.

The CANM will oversee patient flow, collaborate with discharge planning, and support quality and safety initiatives while maintaining regulatory readiness and fiscal stewardship.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse; ER Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in shared leadership structure.
• Manages staffing assignments for oncoming and off going shifts, based on patient acuity and skill set of team members to ensure patient care needs are met.
• Coordinates patient flow by working directly with the Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
• Monitors overall status of patients within area of responsibility and closely monitors status of seriously ill patients.
• Coordinates and/or participates in the delivery of patient care ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Interfaces with patients and families to enhance customer experience by conducting Nurse Leader rounds and responding to patient/family and physician complaints.
• Participates in and/or leads safety huddles.
• Assesses equipment needs to ensure staff have the needed equipment for patient care.
• Maintains regulatory readiness and appropriate allocation of staff.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred
