Job summary

Lackey Memorial Hospital is seeking a Full-time Referral Specialist for the Main Street Medical Clinic of Morton. You will manage patient referrals, schedule procedures, verify insurance, and communicate with patients and providers to ensure smooth coordination of care.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, one year of clinic or hospital experience preferred, and basic medical terminology knowledge. The role also involves light administrative duties and occasional housekeeping as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate (or equivalent) required.
• Some college or business courses preferred.
• One year’s experience in a physician’s clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
• Possesses some medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient outpatient procedures and follows up to see that appointments are kept.
• Schedules patient referrals for nursing staff and follows up to ensure that appointments are kept.
• Pre-certifies and verifies patient insurance as needed.
• Type letters to patients, facilities, etc., as requested by nursing staff.
• Assist with filing request with drug programs patients may need to order prescriptions through.
• Assist patient with Financial Aid when needed.
• Answer the telephone, schedule appointments, and relay patient information.
• Obtain all necessary billing information.
• Preform other duties as assigned by the clinic manager.
• Perform general light housekeeping duties as needed.
