Qualifications

• At least one year of experience performing clerical or administrative work in a healthcare setting.
• 1 year experience with electronic referral process.
• Electronic medical record experience preferred.
• Computer experience using Microsoft Office software products preferred.
• Ability to communicate and present information.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with multiple priorities.
• High School diploma or equivalent with emphasis on office and business skills including keyboarding, filing, and multi-tasking, required.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient appointments with outside specialists and tests.
• Copies, prepares and forwards medical records as appropriate; records referrals in computer log.
• Assists with obtaining insurance referrals and documentation; obtains pre-authorization for tests as needed.
• Notifies patients of appointment dates, times and other important information.
• Notifies scheduling of follow up appointments.
• Notified provider(s) if referral appointment is lengthy or incomplete.
• Monitors referral sheets for timely retrieval of outside office notes.
