Job summary

MACT Health Board is seeking a Referral Specialist to coordinate referrals, diagnostic orders and surgery scheduling within a clinical setting. You will verify insurance, transmit records and arrange specialty appointments, ensuring timely care for patients.

The role requires medical terminology proficiency, office experience, and HIPAA compliance. A high school diploma and BLS/ALS certification are essential; a valid ID and driving eligibility may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Terminology.
• Medical Office experience.
• One year of experience as a referral clerk or similar duties.
• One year of experience as a medical receptionist, medical assistant, or training.
• Knowledge of Next Gen EPM, EHR, i2i Tracks, Epic and other HIEs.
• HIPAA regulations knowledge and compliance.
• Good detail analysis, accuracy, oral and written communication.
• Current BLS/ALS certificate.
• Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
• Must possess a valid form of identification per I-9 and E Verify.
• Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Expedite referrals, diagnostics orders and surgery coordination including insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Transmit required medical records to outside facilities.
• Facilitate appointment scheduling or rescheduling for specialty care.
• Follow up on referrals: receipt, tracking and documentation of activities.
• Receive medical records and attach them to the medical chart.
• Respond to calls, faxes and emails regarding referrals with respect and courtesy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of referral resources, forms and key contacts.
• Communicate with medical staff at outside facilities to ensure efficient workflows.
