Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in billing, patient registration, scheduling, and medical insurance verification (Required).
• Strong customer service and clinic knowledge; proficient computer skills; typing 35 wpm.
• Completion of Ambulatory Services training and competency assessments.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients accurately using the department's scheduling system.
• Register patients online/in person with courteous professionalism.
• Collect and verify demographic and insurance information; update systems as needed.
• Reschedule no-shows or cancellations; schedule follow-ups at checkout.
• Greet patients and obtain required consents; verify IDs and insurance documents.
• Notify about referrals/pre-authorizations; discuss co-payments and payments with families.
• Coordinate with Financial Information Center for payment plans if needed.
• Verify insurance and pre-authorizations; ensure systems are in sync across platforms.
• Handle cash collection and maintain cash controls.
• Assist with billing preparation and scheduling responsibilities.
• Provide general office support; maintain reception area and files.
• Maintain safety and compliant work practices.
