Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll, and customer service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, generate financial statements, and process payroll. You will also generate 1099s/W2s and communicate with clients, suppliers, and banking contacts.

This role supports client retention and growth opportunities within a franchise office, with an emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.
• Ability to interpret instructions, policies and regulations.
• Discretion with confidential information.
• Analytical and detail-oriented.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and growth opportunities.
