Job summary

University of Colorado Colorado Springs seeks a Public Safety Compliance and Records & Evidence Compliance Specialist to support the Clery Act, records custody, and evidence management within the Department of Public Safety. The role requires meticulous documentation, chain-of-custody control, and coordination with campus police to ensure compliant reporting and timely audits.

Qualifications

• Education: Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Experience with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and state/federal records retention and release requirements.
• Experience managing NIBRS functions, data entry, audits, and timely submission of reports to state and federal agencies.
• Experience in a law enforcement, higher education, or compliance-related environment is preferred.
• Completion of Jeanne Clery Act Compliance Training (or ability to complete within 6 months of hire) is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CCIC/NCIC certification within 6 months of hire; CCJIS certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clery Compliance (40%): Develop and maintain Clery Act compliance programs, policies, and reports.
• Coordinate with Campus Security Authorities (CSA), including training and annual compliance letters.
• Ensure documented proof of compliance for all Clery audits.
• Act as liaison to campus departments, local law enforcement, and state police for data sharing and reporting.
• Oversee Clery records management for classification, retention, and accessibility.
• Collaborate with General Counsel on risk evaluation and policy oversight.
• Lead Clery-related committees to strengthen cross-campus compliance.
• Assess and implement projects to improve Clery compliance and reporting efficiency.
