Job summary

Syracuse University is seeking an ITS Instructional Technology Engineer to design, support, and enhance classroom technologies for 165+ Registrar's and 300+ classrooms. The role leads AV projects, supports lecture capture, and collaborates across departments to improve learning spaces and accessibility.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, technical, and project-management skills, with experience in modern AV distribution, AI tools, and enterprise media systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in information technologies/computer science plus 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Broad knowledge of audio and video production equipment operation and distribution; working knowledge of common computer applications.
• Good knowledge of Extron Electronics products and control systems.
• Understanding of trends in presentation and media distribution technologies.
• Familiarity with AI tools and platforms (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) for support and automation.
• Ability to implement technology based on design standards for learning, teaching, and collaboration spaces.
• Experience coordinating projects with engineers, facilities, and IT units; providing operational and technical support for classroom spaces.
• Willingness to travel to campus locations for installation and support.

Responsibilities

• Provide project leadership and AV technical design support for classrooms and events.
• Coordinate operation and preventative maintenance of classroom AV and media systems.
• Support lecture capture services and accessibility needs for events.
• Train students, faculty, and staff in use of AV equipment and classroom technologies.
• Update technical skills and share trends with Learning Environments team.
• Collaborate with internal and external groups to enhance learning spaces and labs.
• Set up, connect, and monitor audio-visual equipment for live and recorded sessions.
