Job summary

Soundview Family YMCA in Branford, CT is seeking a part-time Classroom Assistant to support early childhood and school-age classrooms. You will help implement developmentally appropriate activities, assist with daily routines, supervision, and family communication in line with YMCA policies.

You will model core values, maintain safety, keep attendance and incident records, and participate in trainings. Must be at least 16, CPR/First Aid, and able to obtain required YMCA trainings within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and able to work part-time.
• Demonstrates positive role-modeling and professionalism.
• Ability to stay calm, observant, and safety-conscious.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Models YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with children, families, and staff.
• Assists with daily routines, supervision, and behavior support to ensure safety and positive engagement.
• Helps prepare and lead age-appropriate activities under supervision; maintains organized learning spaces.
• Maintains required ratios and active, visual supervision at all times; follows check-in/out procedures and confidentiality.
• Follows YMCA policies, emergency procedures, and mandated reporting; attends required trainings.
