Job summary

YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the YCare School Age Child Care program. Under supervision of the Site Director, you will help implement engaging activities and supervise children in a warm, safe environment.

Qualifications include CPR, First Aid and AED certification; New York licensing requirements; and the ability to pass background screening. High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience with children are preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required or obtainable through YMCA.
• Must meet NYS licensing requirements for Assistant Teacher.
• Background screening (nationwide) required.

Responsibilities

• Establish positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
• Assist Group Teacher with lesson plans and daily activities.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and active engagement.
• Provide positive reinforcement and age-appropriate discipline.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
• Support YMCA events and program policies.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute ideas.
• Assist with attendance, supply requests, and newsletters.
• Follow policies including substitute procedures.
• Attend program days during school vacations as needed.
• Substitute at other SACC sites when required.
• Pursue training and certifications related to the position.
