Job summary

New Canaan YMCA is seeking part-time Program/Activities Assistants to teach and support a range of youth programs in New Canaan, CT. We offer flexible scheduling and opportunities to make a real impact while having fun.

Responsibilities include leading games, crafts, and activities during school breaks and weekends, on-site babysitting services, and creating adaptable activity plans for ages 5–12. CPR/First Aid is preferred, and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children (ages 5-12).
• Must be dependable and reliable for scheduled hours.
• Should possess great class management skills while being patient, kind, energetic, responsive, and engaging.
• Should have the ability to create and adapt activity plans for varying ages.
• Must exercise good judgement when teaching children’s activities and ensure that children are safe and accounted for in all program areas.
• Recognize any safety concerns regarding the use of the equipment and/or off-site venues where programming takes place.
• Must be able to work reliably and independently with a willingness to actively engage and give clear directions to parents and children.
• CPR and First Aid experience is preferred.
