Job summary

The Hartford in Chicago, IL is seeking a Team Leader Claims to direct claim investigation, disposition and settlement in compliance with policy and regulatory requirements. You will mentor and coach a team of claim professionals, manage reserve accuracy and reporting, and lead complex auto or GL claims while aligning with budget and strategic goals of the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of Auto or GL Litigation claim experience preferred.
• Strong leadership skills in terms of teaching, guiding, coaching and developing staff.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written regardless of audience demographic.
• Ability to partner with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of medical terms is strongly preferred.
• Possess analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent time management abilities.
• Demonstrated track record of consistent and timely follow through for customer needs.
• Strong understanding of reserve accuracy relative to claim exposures both property damage and bodily injury.
• Extensive knowledge of customer service drivers and the ability to resolve customer issues, needs and concerns independently.
• Strong understanding of financial and operational reports for analysis and action planning.

Responsibilities

• Manage Claim professionals with corresponding claim inventories.
• Utilize financial reporting tools to monitor and address reserve accuracy and trending.
• Maintain, accurately communicate and teach business vision, strategies and plans for achieving goals.
• Manage and implement change including explaining drivers for business goals.
• Stay current on issues impacting personal and/or commercial business including industry trends and organizational objectives.
• Gather information, apply sound reasoning and make decisions based on analysis and experience.
• Manage claim assignment process by identifying claim complexity and ensuring proper assigning to the appropriate claim handler.
• Oversee investigation, disposition and settlement of claims in compliance with standards and requirements.
• Assess indemnity and expense exposure and manage reserve setting.
• Interpret and apply insurance coverage.
• Train, coach and develop staff for performance and succession.
