Job summary

Markel is seeking a Claims Supervisor in the United States to oversee the daily activities of staff involved in claims processing and adjusting. You will guide and support the claims team, interpret policy coverage for settlements, and address escalated client inquiries.

The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of claims procedures, and a commitment to maintaining quality service while improving processes. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–5 years supervisory/management experience.
• P&C Adjuster License; ability to secure licensing within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of staff, set performance standards and monitor performance.
• Assist manager in planning, coordinating and distributing claims workflow.
• Assist staff with interpreting account insurance coverage to settle claims.
• Resolve escalated complaints and respond to client questions.
• Provide account analysis and audits.
• Assist in establishing service benchmarks and reporting on performance metrics.
• Assist in researching and recommending new processes for departmental improvement.
• Assist in hiring, training, development and retention of staff.
• Provide recommendations for projects including processes, account conversions and product development.
• Provide internal training on claims processes.
