Markel Group is seeking a Claims Specialist to resolve average complexity and low to mid exposure claims. You will investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle assignments by analyzing data per policy provisions.

The role emphasizes customer service, timely closures, and adherence to SLAs. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, a claims license, and some insurance coursework; location: U.S. roles with salary range $62,400–$107,250.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Advanced degree or technical degree a plus.
• Must have or be eligible for a claims adjuster license.
• Completion of basic insurance courses or professional designations (INS, CPCU, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Typically handles low to moderate exposure claims.
• Reviews policies to confirm coverage and communicates positions.
• Drafts coverage position letters independently.
• Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and settles claims within authority.
• Prepares reports and ensures timely processing and closure of claims.
• Identifies subrogation opportunities and potential fraud.
• Provides strong customer service to internal and external customers.
