Job summary

Ascot Group seeks a Claims Counsel, Financial Institutions to join our Financial Lines Claims team. The role conducts investigations, analysis, evaluation and disposition of FI claims with emphasis on customer service and strategic initiatives.

The candidate will work with internal partners to provide legal guidance, maintain claims files, and stay informed on FI trends and Ascot’s underwriting decisions. Travel for mediations and conferences may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; J.D. preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant legal or claim handling experience in Financial Institutions claims.
• Ability to negotiate terms within designated authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional demeanor.
• Time management to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a case load of primary and excess FI claims.
• Analyze, investigate and resolve FI claims of varying severity with moderate supervision.
• Prepare and present reports reflecting loss development, exposure, reserve adjustments, coverage issues, and recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Work with brokers, insureds and counsel to resolve claims.
• Draft coverage correspondence and manage counsel appointments.
