Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Claims Counsel, Management Liability to independently manage a portfolio of complex D&O, EPL, fiduciary, and related claims for private companies and nonprofits. You will collaborate with underwriting, brokers, insureds, and defense counsel to deliver strong outcomes while growing the portfolio.

The role requires a JD, 7–10 years of Management Liability experience, and proficiency in litigation management, analysis, and negotiation.

Qualifications

• JD degree and active bar membership required.
• 7–10 years of experience handling Management Liability claims.
• Expertise in private company D&O, nonprofit liability, EPL, and Fiduciary Liability coverage analysis.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of complex and high-severity Management Liability claims.
• Analyze policy coverage and prepare reservation of rights letters, coverage position letters, and declination letters.
• Conduct detailed factual, legal, financial, and coverage analyses to evaluate liability, damages, and exposure.
• Establish and maintain reserves within delegated authority and seek additional authority when needed.
• Evaluate settlement opportunities and participate in mediations and other dispute resolutions.
• Exercise sound judgment on complex coverage and litigation issues in line with guidelines.
