Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for the Transmission Design Engineering team. Based in Del Mar, CA, the role is hybrid and involves designing and analyzing overhead transmission structures from 69kV to 500kV, developing drawings and calculations for steel poles, lattice towers, and foundations.

You will use PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and MFAD daily, with occasional MathCAD and related tools. Must have a BS in Civil/Structural Eng (ABET) and be capable of travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Proficiency in statics and structural analysis; steel and concrete design coursework.
• 0–2 years in civil/structural engineering; electric transmission line design preferred.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD or similar is a plus.
• Hybrid work setting with strong collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze overhead transmission structures in 69kV–500kV range.
• Develop and review drawings and calculations for poles, towers, foundations.
• Create transmission line models in PLS-CADD for loading.
• Operate PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, MFAD daily.
• Review vendor submittals for steel, concrete, micropiles; ensure QC.
