Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Transmission Design Engineering team in California. You will design and analyze overhead transmission structures, develop design drawings, and use PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and MFAD to support project loading and accuracy.

The position requires 2–4 years of experience, an ABET-accredited degree, and an EIT credential. Hybrid work and travel up to 5% are expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• 2–4 years of experience in electric transmission line design.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, MFAD; AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Hybrid work setting and valid driver's license; ability to travel up to 5%.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) credential.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze overhead transmission structures in the 69kV–500kV range.
• Develop and review design drawings and calculations for steel poles, lattice towers, and foundations.
• Develop and review transmission line models in PLS-CADD for structure loading.
• Daily use of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and MFAD.
• Occasional use of MathCAD, RISA 3D, Ener Calc, and tnxTower.
• Review vendor submittals for steel, concrete, and micropile components.
• Design and review structural analysis of monopoles, lattice towers, and foundations.
• Design of anchorages, connections, and custom steel assemblies.
• Follow QA/QC and project management practices.
