Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for our Transmission Design Engineering team in Del Mar, CA. This hybrid role focuses on designing and analyzing overhead transmission structures and developing detailed drawings and calculations for steel poles, lattice towers, and foundations.

You will model transmission lines in PLS-CADD and use related tools, with responsibilities including QA/QC and collaboration with customers on technical recommendations.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Strong knowledge of statics, structural analysis, steel and concrete design.
• 4–6 years of Civil/Structural engineering experience, preferably in electric transmission design.
• Experience with PLS-CADD or related tools is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a hybrid team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze overhead transmission structures from 69kV to 500kV.
• Develop and review design drawings and calculations for poles, towers, foundations.
• Create transmission line models in PLS-CADD for structure loading.
• Use PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER and MFAD; occasional MathCAD, RISA 3D, Enercalc.
• Follow QA/QC and sound project management practices.
