Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Transmission Design Engineering team in Del Mar, CA, with a hybrid work setup. You will design and analyze overhead transmission structures, develop drawings and calculations for steel poles, towers, and foundations, and build line models in PLS-CADD to support loading analyses.

The role requires a BSCE (ABET-accredited), strong fundamentals in statics/structural analysis, and 0–2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

BSCE or structural engineering degree from ABET-accredited school.
High proficiency in statics, structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design coursework.
0–2 years of civil/structural engineering experience, preferably related to electric transmission line design.
Exposure to PLS-CADD, AutoCAD or similar is a plus but not required.
Ability to work independently and in a team within a hybrid work setting.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Design and analyze overhead transmission structures in the 69kV to 500kV range.
Develop and review design drawings and calculations for new steel poles, lattice towers, and foundations.
Develop and review transmission line models in PLS-CADD for structure loading.
Daily use of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and MFAD.
Occasional use of MathCAD, RISA 3D, Enercalc, and tnxTower.
Review submittals for poles, steel, concrete, and micropile construction.
Develop and review structural analysis of monopoles, lattice towers, and foundations.
Design anchorages and connections for transmission equipment.
Follow QA/QC and project management practices.
