Job summary

Thompson Engineering in the Southeast is seeking a dedicated Civil QA/QC Inspector to oversee quality assurance and control for earthworks, concrete, utilities, drainage and structures on civil construction projects. Strong knowledge of ASTM, ACI and AASHTO codes is essential.

The role requires reviewing drawings and ITPs, preparing daily reports, coordinating with contractors and site staff, and ensuring all records are properly documented.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of civil QA/QC experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, AASHTO standards.
• Experience reviewing ITPs and QCPs.
• Ability to travel with a valid driver's license.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QA/QC reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct QA/QC inspections for earthwork, concrete, utilities, drainage and structures.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, test results, NCRs, and corrective actions.
• Monitor construction work per inspection and test plans (ITPs).
• Coordinate with contractors, site engineers, consultants, and quality managers.
• Verify materials and workmanship meet submittals and standards.
• Attend quality and coordination meetings as needed.
• Ensure inspection records are archived and maintained.
• Identify recurring quality issues and suggest practical improvements.
