Job summary

Thompson Engineering in the Southeast seeks a Civil QA/QC Inspector to oversee quality assurance and control on earthworks, concrete, asphalt, utilities, and drainage projects. You will ensure compliance with codes, standards, project specs, and quality plans while coordinating with contractors and site teams.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of civil construction QA/QC experience, familiarity with ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and ITP/QCP processes, and the ability to read drawings and test reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; engineering degree preferred.
• 3–5 years in civil construction QA/QC on large projects.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, AASHTO and ITP/QCP processes.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret specs.
• Driver's license and travel flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct QA/QC inspections for earthwork, foundation, concrete, utilities, roadways, and structural components.
• Review drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, NCRs, and corrective actions.
• Monitor work to ensure compliance with approved ITPs.
• Coordinate with contractors, site engineers, consultants, and quality managers.
• Verify materials and workmanship meet approved submittals and standards.
• Attend quality and coordination meetings as needed.
• Archive inspection and testing records.
• Identify recurring quality issues and suggest practical solutions.
