Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a dedicated Civil QA/QC Inspector to oversee quality assurance and control for earthworks, concrete, asphalt, utilities, drainage, and structural components on major infrastructure projects.

The role ensures compliance with codes, project specifications, and quality plans, reviewing drawings, preparing reports, and coordinating with contractors and design teams. Travel to project sites is expected with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of civil construction QA/QC experience on infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and related standards.
• Experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
• Familiarity with construction materials and lab/field testing procedures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QA/QC reporting tools.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct QA/QC inspections for civil construction activities (earthwork, foundation, concrete, utilities, roadways, structures).
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, test results, NCRs, and corrective action documentation.
• Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with approved ITPs.
• Coordinate with contractors, site engineers, consultants, and quality managers to address quality issues.
• Verify materials and workmanship meet project submittals and standards.
• Attend quality and coordination meetings as needed.
• Ensure inspection and testing records are properly documented and archived.
• Identify recurring quality issues and suggest practical solutions.
