Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II- Traffic Analysis and Planning for our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on traffic studies, multimodal planning, and corridor analysis to support transportation projects.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with 2–6 years of Transportation/Traffic experience and proficiency in Synchro, SIDRA or HCS. DOT/locality collaboration and PE/EIT are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 2–6 years of Transportation/Traffic Engineering experience; new graduates considered.
  • Proficiency with Synchro, SIDRA and HCS is essential.
  • Knowledge of traffic analyses, planning, safety, forecasting, signaling and ITS is preferred.
  • Multimodal (bicycle/pedestrian) project experience preferred.
  • CAD and GIS knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with DOT/localities; PE/EIT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, and safety analysis.
  • Bike/pedestrian/multimodal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Perform calculations using engineering formulas and/or computers to solve problems.
  • Research and write objective summary reports for project work.
  • Assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates.
  • Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties.
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team; report results to the public.

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II- Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Richmond, VA office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis;
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation;
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems;
  • Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work;
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates
  • Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team; and
  • Communicate results/recommendations to the general public.
Skills/Requirements

of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Ideal candidates would have between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning, but new graduates will be considered
  • Synchro/SIDRA/HCS proficiency is essential
  • Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred
  • Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred
  • Experience working with DOT and/or localities; and
  • PE/EIT preferred.
Compensation:

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $82,000-$90,000. This position is eligible for straight-time overtime. There may be flexibility on salary for experienced candidates. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials role complexity.
