Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group in Charlottesville, VA. This role involves operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, and multi-modal design to improve transportation networks.

Ideal candidates bring 2–6 years in transportation/traffic engineering, proficiency with Synchro/SIDRA/HCS, and basic CAD/GIS skills. DOT/locality experience and PE/EIT are preferred.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience in Transportation/Traffic Engineering and Planning.
  • Proficiency in Synchro/SIDRA/HCS is essential.
  • Knowledge of traffic analyses, planning studies, safety, forecasting, signal design, ITS design or timing is preferred.
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred.
  • Basic CAD and GIS knowledge preferred.
  • Experience working with DOT and/or localities; PE/EIT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis.
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and/or computers to solve problems.
  • Prepare objective summary reports for project work.
  • Assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates.
  • Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection.
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team.
  • Communicate results/recommendations to the general public.

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Charlottesville, VA office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis;
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation;
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems;
  • Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work;
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates
  • Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection dutie
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team; and
  • Communicate results/recommendations to the general public.
Skills/Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Ideal candidates would have between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning
  • Synchro/SIDRA/HCS proficiency is essential
  • Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred
  • Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred
  • Experience working with DOT and/or localities; and
  • PE/EIT preferred.
Compensation

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $82,000-$90,000. This position is eligible for straight-time overtime. There may be flexibility on salary for experienced candidates. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials role complexity.
