Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III focused on roadway design to join our Transportation Design Group in our Washington, DC office. The role involves designing project portions using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley OpenRoads Designer and collaborating with client staff.

You will perform calculations, prepare cost estimates, and develop design details and plan sets, with opportunities to advance and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects in a dynamic firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• At least two years of transportation civil engineering experience related to roadway design.
• Bentley OpenRoads Designer proficiency is essential.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency is a plus.
• VDOT experience preferred.
• EIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design portions of projects using Bentley OpenRoads/OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Perform calculations using engineering formulas and computer tools to solve problems.
• Prepare specifications materials from catalogs and manage materials/installation details.
• Develop design details and plan sets for roadway projects.
• Research and write objective summaries for project work or inspections.
• Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Conduct field observation, data collection, and coordination with senior staff.
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior staff.

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III Roadway Design- Transportation candidate to join our Transportation Design Group located in our Washington, DC office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and AutoDesk Civil 3D technology.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems.
• Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project.
• Work to complete design details and plan sets.
• Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work or inspection.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff.
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.

Skills/Requirements

• A bachelors or master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Ideal candidates would have at least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design
• Bentley OpenRoads Designer proficiency is essential
• AutoDesk Civil 3D proficiency is a plus
• VDOT experience preferred

Compensation

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $90,000 - $97,000. This position is eligible for straight-time overtime. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity.
