Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Civil Field Internship for Summer 2027 in Grand Rapids, MI. You will assist with daily reports, site observations, and ensure construction meets design and contract requirements.

Join a team that supports engineers and inspectors, travels to project sites, and emphasizes learning in a real-world infrastructure setting. This internship offers growth and exposure to multidisciplinary teams within a regional Michigan offices network.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in construction, field inspection, or testing is a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors and traveling to project sites.
• Eager to learn and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare daily reports documenting jobsite conditions and completed work.
• Assist in verifying that construction meets design and contract requirements.
• Support engineers and inspectors with RFIs (Requests for Information).
• Participate in site visits and observe project execution firsthand.

Working with our Civil Field team, you will help with daily reports and assist with verifying construction meets all specifications and other requirements.

What You'll Do
