Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks Civil Engineering Student Workers for Summer 2027. Most positions require in-person fieldwork with some hybrid options; roles support engineers across construction, design, project management, and bridge/structures projects.

Applicants must be college students pursuing undergrad or graduate degrees in civil-related fields and carry at least two courses per semester. Priority will be given to juniors and students with GPA 3.0 or higher.

Qualifications

• College student pursuing undergrad or graduate degree in civil, construction, environmental, or structural engineering, or land surveying.
• Must be taking two or more classes per semester.
• Open to all qualified applicants; members of diverse groups are encouraged to apply.
• Priority is given to students completing their junior year.
• Priority will be given to applicants with GPA 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support MnDOT engineers with hands-on experience.
• Support construction, design, project management, and bridge/structures tasks.
• Work across multiple offices and sites as part of the Civil Engineering Student Worker program.
