Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Civil team in Detroit Lakes, MN. The role involves a mix of field construction observation and office design work under mentorship.

You will gain exposure to client-driven standards and perform tasks ranging from site grading to pavement design, while developing solid engineering skills through real project experience. Must be enrolled in civil or construction engineering, with the ability to work full-time during Summer 2027

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering
• Interest in construction observation and design
• Willing to work full-time Summer 2027
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Experience with Civil 3D/Open Roads is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects
• Maintain records, quantities, checklists, daily reports, and documentation for construction administration projects
• Communicate progress with senior design staff
• Design, develop, implement, and analyze engineering systems
• Plan preparation including grading, erosion control, traffic control, pavement marking, street lighting, underground utility design
• Develop plans and specifications that comply with state and municipal requirements
• Demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking and design ownership
• Work in both office and field settings
