Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, District 4 – Detroit Lakes, is seeking an Engineer Senior or Engineer 2 Graduate for a full-time, exempt role. The position offers a day shift with telework up to two days per week and office presence as required, supervising the District Design Section and delivering highway construction plans.

Applicants must hold an ABET‑accredited civil engineering degree (or equivalent), pass the FE exam (or possess PE credentials), and have two years

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a professional Engineer in Minnesota (AELSLAGID) or have a temporary permit if licensure by comity.
• Experience managing transportation projects.
• Experience applying engineering principles, practices, techniques and methods.
• Experience coordinating staff and/or consultants.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and delivery in the District Design Section for highway construction plans and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with MnDOT standards and policies.
• Lead and supervise transportation design personnel.
