Job summary

Bohler's Raleigh, NC office is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience on real site design projects. You will work with engineers, designers, and PMs, gaining exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D design tasks such as concept and grading plans, stormwater and utility layouts, and permitting support.

Enrollment in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering programs is required, along with strong communication and a proactive,

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (training provided if not yet proficient).
• Curiosity and motivation to learn within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Interest in civil site design, land development, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site design tasks under supervision.
• Support grading, stormwater, and utility plan production.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and PMs to move projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and learn the development process.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute design ideas.

About the Role

Bohler's office in Raleigh, NC is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2027intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

What You'll Do

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
  • Concept plans
  • Grading plans
  • Stormwater management plans
  • Utility system plans
  • Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements
