Bohler in Warrenton, VA is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience in site design and permitting. You will work with engineers, designers, and PMs on real projects, using AutoCAD Civil 3D and learning the full site development process from concept to construction.

Enrollment in a Civil/Environmental/Biosystems Engineering program is required, with strong communication skills and a self-starter attitude.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred; training provided if not proficient.

Responsibilities

• Support design and permitting of developments using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Learn land development and site design stages from concept to construction.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to move projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and engineering processes.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute design improvements.

About the Role

Bohler’s office in Warrenton, VA is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2027intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
  • Concept plans
  • Grading plans
  • Stormwater management plans
  • Utility system plans
  • Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements
