Bohler’s Lehigh Valley, PA office is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience supporting site design, permitting, and real client projects under experienced engineers and project managers.

Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D on concept, grading, stormwater, and utility plans while learning the complete land development process from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (training provided if not proficient).
• Interest in civil site design, land development, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Learn the stages of land development and site design processes.
• Support design and permitting for varied developments.
• Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D for concept, grading, and utility plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to move projects forward.
• Assist with researching zoning ordinances and coordinating with jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and engineering workflows.

About the Role

Bohler’s office in Lehigh Valley, PA is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2027intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands‑on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
  • Concept plans
  • Grading plans
  • Stormwater management plans
  • Utility system plans
  • Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements
