Bohler is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) to gain hands-on experience in site design and the complete land development process. You will work with engineers, designers, and project managers on real projects from concept to construction, using AutoCAD Civil 3D to support concept, grading, and utility layouts.

The role emphasizes learning, mentorship, and collaboration across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, with exposure to permitting and client work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and with a team.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred; training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with concept plans and initial site design decisions.
• Develop and refine grading plans for land development projects.
• Create stormwater, drainage, and utility layouts.
• Support project managers and engineers in design coordination.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe conditions and participate in design discussions.

About the Role

Bohler’s office in Wilmington, DE is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real‑world site design projects. As a Summer 2027intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed‑use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands‑on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
  • Concept plans
  • Grading plans
  • Stormwater management plans
  • Utility system plans
  • Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements
