Job summary

Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern in Pennsylvania to support our growing practice. The role emphasizes applying professional principles to real problems under senior supervision, with the program running May through August 2027.

The intern will perform geotechnical fieldwork, observation, laboratory testing, and create basic CAD/GIS drawings while gaining practical experience in geotechnical, geostructural, tunnel, and dam engineering.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering BS program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willing to perform office and field tasks.
• Willing to work outdoors.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work including observing subsurface exploration, GPS layout of borings, and infiltration testing.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing at sites.
• Conduct laboratory testing.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Provide support to engineers on geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Some travel may be required.
