Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Engineering Intern to support standard engineering design tasks and project duties across markets. You will assist lead engineers, perform routine design work, and help with data entry, documentation, and presentations.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with ABET accreditation preferred, strong communication and analytical skills, and active campus involvement.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Involvement in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn, with aptitude to grow in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and PowerPoint presentations.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and propose solutions.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
