Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Akron, Ohio office seeks a Civil Engineer-in-Training with 3+ years of municipal wastewater design experience to join the Water/Wastewater and Utilities team. This is not a remote position and involves mentorship, plan production, and coordination with a multidisciplinary group.

The role includes designing water and wastewater systems, managing tasks and budgets, and contributing to project success through strong collaboration and technical writing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of municipal wastewater design experience
• Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification (or can obtain within 12 months)
• Experience designing pipelines, pump stations, and hydraulic modeling calculations
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with ability to work both independently and in a team

Responsibilities

• Assist in design of water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, and water treatment facilities
• Contribute to municipal water and wastewater utility design projects
• Assist with project tasks, design and permitting, and construction coordination
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure project success
• Maintain quality of plan sets and review others' work
• Monitor progress, budgets, and schedules; participate in client interactions
