Job summary

Bristol Public Schools is seeking a City-Wide Paraeducator to assist in small group and individual pupil instruction, under the supervision of a special education teacher.

The paraeducator will support instruction, help maintain discipline, and escort students between rooms. This role involves work with both special education and general education students and may include toileting assistance as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; two years of college credit or an associate degree.
• Parapro Assessment assesses content knowledge in math, reading and writing.
• Ability to assist in instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students from room to room.
• Toileting students is sometimes required.
• Involves work with both special education and regular students.
• Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
• Supervise students during recess and lunch.
• Assist students with classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
• Alert teachers to problems.
• May require supporting with toileting of students.
• PMT required
