Job summary

Bristol Public Schools is seeking a City Wide 1:1 Paraeducator to support students in small group and individual instruction under the supervision of the special education teacher.

The role involves assisting with classroom activities, supervising students at recess and lunch, and may include toileting and paperwork tasks. Strong reading, math, and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college credit or an associate's degree, or paraprofessional assessment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students between rooms.
• Toileting students may be required.
• Work with both special education and regular students.
• Assist in implementing IEPs.
• Supervise students during recess and lunch.
• Assist with classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Prepare paperwork and file materials.
• Alert teachers to problems observed.
• May assist with toileting of students.
