Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and its Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) seek a Senior Advisor to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). Reporting to the CIO, the Senior Advisor coordinates centralized IT functions, monitors performance, and drives strategic IT priorities across BIT units.

The role requires deep knowledge of IT operations, project and portfolio management, budgeting, procurement, and executive communications.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in IT operations, project and portfolio management.
• Strong budgeting, procurement, and governance knowledge.
• Excellent executive communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as CIO's trusted advisor and primary operational partner.
• Coordinate day-to-day IT operations across BIT units.
• Partner with executives to identify, communicate, and resolve priorities.
• Develop and implement management processes to improve effectiveness and accountability.
• Manage and coordinate special projects and executive-level initiatives.
• Support Project Governance for IT projects, governance, and dashboards.
• Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs for performance visibility.
• Analyze operational and project data to identify trends and risks.
• Maintain documentation for existing IT architecture.
• Prepare executive briefings and talking points for the CIO.
• Coordinate with IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Security to align priorities.
• Assist in strategic planning, budgeting, and enterprise technology initiatives.
