Job summary

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and governance across IT and OT. The role focuses on protecting data, networks, and critical infrastructure, with oversight of incident response and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the CIO, the CISO will manage a team, develop policies, and coordinate with agencies like NYC Cyber Command.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of information security principles and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with risk management frameworks and security policy development.
• Hands-on system administration and network security skills.
• Proficiency in network troubleshooting, firewalls, protocols, routers, and switches.
• Ability to design and maintain secure SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and submission of materials for NYS Cybersecurity Regulations for Public Water Systems.
• Direct a team of IT security professionals and provide leadership and support.
• Coordinate cybersecurity incident responses with internal teams and oversight agencies.
• Track incidents and vulnerability reports and direct remediation efforts.
• Design and implement critical incident response processes and KRIs.
• Monitor IT and OT threat landscapes and maintain security systems.
