Job summary

The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) seeks a Chief Information Officer to lead the Information Technology bureau and advance the department's mission through a comprehensive technology strategy across 140+ business units.

The CIO will direct IT operations, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and vendor management, reporting to the COO, and collaborating with senior staff to improve service for property owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and tenants.

Qualifications

• Master’s in CS/Business/Public Admin or related field with 6 years IT experience, 4+ in an executive/managerial role.
• BA with 8 years of IT experience, including 4 years in an executive/managerial capacity.
• Equivalent education/experience to option 1 with HS diploma and 6 years IT experience, including 4 in leadership.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Commissioner and executive staff to implement a technology vision and strategy.
• Provide executive IT direction; allocate resources and coordinate bureau activities with other units.
• Lead development of agency-wide IT standards, processes, and performance metrics.
• Promote digital transformation and modernization of legacy systems and automate workflows.
• Oversee cybersecurity measures, compliance with laws and standards, and incident response.
• Coordinate IT budget and vendor contracts; liaison to the Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI).
