Job summary

Dolby in San Francisco is seeking a QA Manager for the Cinema QA group to lead test strategy and lab readiness for cinema imaging products. This hands-on leadership role requires on-site work in Dolby’s hardware labs and close collaboration with engineering partners.

You will manage a team of test engineers, drive end-to-end test plans, risk assessment, and release-quality reporting across complex systems including projectors, servers, networking, and related infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in management and 8+ years in quality test engineering or related field.
• Experience leading QA for video, imaging, projection, display, cinema, or complex hardware-software systems.
• Hands-on lab experience configuring, operating, testing, and troubleshooting integrated systems with projectors, servers, networks, and measurement tools.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication; strong presentation, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Strong leadership, ownership, and ability to manage multiple high-priority programs; clear communication to senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Linux/UNIX and Windows OS, command-line tools, logs, networking, and common protocols.
• Familiarity with Agile development, QA practices, test-case management, release processes, and product lifecycle.
• Ability to work on-site in the San Francisco office to support hardware labs.

Responsibilities

• Manage team of technical test engineers, providing both management and technical oversight.
• Plan resources, headcount, and budgets to ensure adequate resources for projects.
• Grow and mentor the team as project demands require.
• Partner with QA teams across Dolby, coordinating with engineering entities in different geographies.
• Develop and implement QA strategies and end-to-end test ownership for cinema products from development to release.
• Create comprehensive test plans, cases, matrices, and release criteria based on requirements and risk.
• Provide technical leadership for multiple programs; report test status and quality risks to stakeholders.
• Collaborate across QA, imaging engineering, systems engineering, product and program management, operations, and field teams.
• Set up and maintain cinema hardware labs and test environments with projectors, servers, networks, measurement tools.
• Provide direction on test design, lab practices, troubleshooting, and quality decision-making.
• Mentor the team to produce quality defect reports and drive triage, root cause analysis, and fixes verification.
• Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency via scripting, automation, AI-assisted workflows, and QA tools.
• Serve as primary QA interface with external partners for test alignment, issue escalation, and release readiness.
